This ride takes you through Sylva, Cullowhee, onto 281 -- a GREAT road! -- into Lake Toxaway, Sapphire Valley, Cashiers, Highlands, Franklin, and back to Maggie Valley

It will take at least 6 hours

Turn right out of Applecover Inn

Follow 19 for 7 miles (3^rd light) and turn right onto 276 South

Take 276 for about a mile, and turn right onto 23/74 towards Sylva (Big Kmart on your right)

23/74 takes you over Balsam Mountain, and down into Sylva

Take exit 85, and you will be forced to go just the one way into Sylva

Follow this road (Asheville Highway) to the stoplight, and turn left onto 107

Take 107 through Sylva and Cullowhee

There are several gas stations along this route

Follow 107 on into Tuckasegee

Turn right onto 281, there is a gas station on the corner

281 will take you about 15 to 20 miles to 64 with VERY little traffic

Make sure you follow the signs for 281 as there are some switchbacks that can be confusing

When you reach 64, turn right towards Cashiers

Follow 64 into Cashiers

If you prefer, continue on 64 into Highlands where there are quite a few restaurants

In Highlands, you must turn right to continue on 28/64

Just after you get out of Highlands (a couple miles) Bridal Veil Falls will be on your right

Continue on 64/28 and you will come to Dry Falls on your left

After seeing the falls, get back onto 64.28 and follow it into Franklin

You will come to a large intersection which will be 441

Turn left onto 441, and get in the right lane

Be prepared to turn right and follow 28 North

Take 28 North to it’s end, which will be 19

There is a Texaco Station right on the corner, be sure not to leave your cell phone on the gas pump!

Turn right onto 19 (also 74) and head towards Bryson City/Cherokee

If you wish to go through Cherokee, get off exit 69, Hyatt Creek Road

Turn left, and this will take you to 19

Turn right onto 19, you will go through Ela, into Cherokee, and eventually to Maggie Valley

If you prefer not to go through any towns, continue on 74 to 441 North (exit 74)

You will be forced to go towards Cherokee on 441

After a few miles, be in the right lane and turn right onto Camp Creek Road (Colton Court is on the left)

Within a mile or two, be ready to turn left onto Old Mission Road

This will take you back to 19, turn right, and in about 13 miles, you’ll be back at Applecover Inn
